A 2-year-old boy is in critical condition after being struck by a truck in a Colorado Springs car wash parking lot. 7News is reporting that the boy was with his father at the car wash on South Academy Blvd when he was struck by a Hummer on Tuesday. Police said the boy was taken to the hospital with a serious head injury.

An accident in Boulder County on Sunday killed a 52-year-old husband and father, Greg Thorne, and left his wife and daughter injured. The Denver Post reports that the crash occurred on 119th Street near Colorado Highway 7. A vehicle heading northbound “crossed over the center line and collided” with Thorne’s vehicle. The driver of the northbound vehicle was injured but her present condition as well as the condition of Thorne’s wife and daughter are unknown. The accident remains under investigation.

A friendly get-together between two families in Wisconsin turned tragic Wednesday when a four-year-old girl was attacked and killed by the family dog. 7News is reporting that the girl and her family had visited the home and the dog many times before. The dog, a male boxer, and the girl were alone when the incident happened so no one knows what prompted the attack. A passing neighbor saw the attack from the road and alerted the family who then called 911. The girl was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The dog was euthanized.

CBS4Denver.com has reported that a “wrongful death lawsuit was filed in Denver Wednesday by relatives of a Denver family killed on Thanksgiving Day in 2008 by leaking carbon monoxide.” The family was staying in a vacation home in Aspen at the time, part of a package deal they purchased in a charity auction for their kid’s school. Charles Nelson Douglas will spend the next 12 years of his life in prison for a crash that critically injured a Commerce City police officer in 2003. The officer, Juan Lopez, was directing traffic at Colorado 76 and 88th Avenue when struck by Douglas’ car. Douglas was drunk at the time and according to an article posted at DenverPost.com was found “guilty of vehicular assault resulting from driving under the influence” by a jury in July of 2005. Douglas failed to show for his sentencing later that year and had eluded police until May of this year. Douglas was arrested at the border of Mexico while attempting to leave the country.

A car was destroyed by fire during Denver’s Monday morning commute. 9News.com reports that it hasn’t been determined what caused the fire and that there were no injuries from the fire. Traffic on southbound I-25 where the car fire occurred, however, was at a near standstill for over an hour.

A tractor-trailer crash on I-70 Monday night has resulted in the driver being arrested for suspicion of drunk driving. According to 9News, the tractor-trailer was traveling westbound Monday night with a trailer loaded with beer when the semi went off the road, hit the median and rolled onto its side. The driver of the semi was not injured but the semi caught fire after the crash.

An RTD driver that drove the wrong way in the I-25 HOV lanes on Wednesday has resigned. According to the Denver Post, the driver, who was alone at the time, went around gates and signs warning him before he began traveling northbound against traffic at about 5:30 a.m. There were no collisions but drivers reported pulling over to the shoulder to avoid the bus. An RTD dispatcher ordered the bus to pull over at East 70th Avenue after being notified by another driver of the situation.

A young boy wandered onto a busy highway in Colorado Springs and was struck and killed by a car. The Denver Post is reporting that the incident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 24 near Garret Road. Police Sergeant Steven Biscaro says it is still unclear how the boy made it onto the highway. The highway was reduced to one lane of traffic following the accident.

A six year old Colorado Springs girl was severely injured when she was attacked by a pit bull. According to the Denver post, the girl suffered extensive injuries to her face that will require surgery. The dog’s owner was cited for illegal ownership of a dangerous dog.
