According to NBC11 news, a woman was injured in a Colorado motorcycling accident on Sunday. The motorcycle accident occurred on Highway 65, near where Lands End Road meets Highway 65. The driver of the motorcycle, Maryann Arter, was riding with a group of motorcyclists when she lost control of her motorcycle, hit the brakes, and skid 185 feet, before being ejected from her bike. She was airlifted immediately to a local hospital with arm and head injuries. According to reports, she only had a learner’s permit for the motorcycle and she was not wearing a helmet at the time of the Colorado motorcycle crash. Even though Colorado law does not require all Colorado motorcyclists to wear helmets, it is certainly in the driver’s best interest to. Motorcycle helmets significantly reduce the risk of serious motorcycle injuries—including traumatic head injuries that can lead to a lifetime of disabilities, pain, and suffering. If you have been injured in a Colorado motorcycle accident, it is important to have an experienced and skilled motorcycle accident attorney on your side. Due to the nature of motorcycling accidents, many Colorado motorcyclists find themselves involved in lengthy legal disputes with insurance companies, even while they are still trying to recover from their injuries. As a result, you need a Colorado motorcycle accident attorney who will be an aggressive legal advocate for you and your family. According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, 18 year old, Michael McElroy, was involved in a downtown Colorado Springs car crash early on June 11, 2010. The driver, Rickey Miller, was suspected of speeding when the car rolled over on Interstate 25 near the Fontanero exit. According to the Denver Post, a Denver ambulance was involved in a three car crash at South Monaco Parkway and East Yale Avenue on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at around 6 p.m. The Denver ambulance had its lights on and was on its way to an emergency at the time of the car crash. Initial reports indicate that the ambulance was going through a green light at the time of the car crash and that the Sport Utility Vehicle it struck was the responsible party—although the investigation is ongoing. Four people were injured at the time of the Denver car crash, but no one sustained any life-threatening injuries. In 2008, 2.35 million people were injured in car crashes across the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. These injuries can range from broken bones and lacerations to more serious spinal cord and head injuries. One of the main reasons for Denver car crashes is inattention to the roadway. Inattention while driving can be caused by other passengers, cellphones or multitasking and can lead to serious and often fatal accidents. According to the Greeley Tribune, 2 people were killed on Monday, May 31, 2010 when a pickup truck attempted to pass traffic on Colorado 392. The pickup truck hit another vehicle head-on and instantly killed both the driver and the passenger in that vehicle. The driver of the pickup truck was flown immediately to the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. As of now, the identities of the victims has not been released. A head-on collision or frontal car crash is one of the most deadly car accidents due to the speed at which the vehicles are traveling. During a frontal crash, drivers usually have very little time to react, and as a result, collide at extremely dangerous speeds. Head-on collisions can lead to serious and life-threatening injuries that can result in permanent disabilities.
