A car was destroyed by fire during Denver’s Monday morning commute. 9News.com reports that it hasn’t been determined what caused the fire and that there were no injuries from the fire. Traffic on southbound I-25 where the car fire occurred, however, was at a near standstill for over an hour. The National Fire Protection Association reports that between the years 2003 to 2007, “U.S. Fire departments responded to an average of 287,000 vehicle fires per year. These fires caused an estimated 480 civilian deaths and $1.3 billion in direct property damage.” Nearly 75% of these automobile fires were the direct result of mechanical or electrical failures. If you or someone you know has been injured in a automobile fire or any other automobile accident and have questions about how to deal with your insure company, you need to speak with an experienced and knowledgeable Colorado Personal Injury Lawyer today. A tractor-trailer crash on I-70 Monday night has resulted in the driver being arrested for suspicion of drunk driving.  According to 9News, the tractor-trailer was traveling westbound Monday night with a trailer loaded with beer when the semi went off the road, hit the median and rolled onto its side. The driver of the semi was not injured but the semi caught fire after the crash. In Colorado, DUI and impaired offenses are misdemeanors; injury-related DUI offenses are class 4 felonies. According to Alcoholalert.Com, between 2000 and 2008 there were 5,703 total traffic fatalities in the state of Colorado with 2,267 of those fatalities being alcohol related. The simple act of drinking and driving is considered by many to be one of the most dangerous combinations an average individual can make. Alcohol impairs a person’s judgment, slows their reaction time, and generally detriments any person’s ability to drive. Drinking and driving is responsible for many accidents in Colorado each year and drunk driving is listed as one of the leading causes of automobile fatalities for the state. Driving after drinking is not only a bad decision; it can also be a deadly one. If you have been injured in a drunken driving accident or if you have a loved one who has been injured or killed by a drunk driver, help is available. Colorado DUI injury attorney John Fuller has helped hundreds of clients get the compensation they deserved following car accidents and can help you get the compensation you deserve. An RTD driver that drove the wrong way in the I-25 HOV lanes on Wednesday has resigned.  According to the Denver Post, the driver, who was alone at the time, went around gates and signs warning him before he began traveling northbound against traffic at about 5:30 a.m. There were no collisions but drivers reported pulling over to the shoulder to avoid the bus. An RTD dispatcher ordered the bus to pull over at East 70th Avenue after being notified by another driver of the situation. Bus accident statistics are limited; however, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System data for 1993 to 1997 shows that 141 buses were involved in accidents that resulted in the deaths of 21 occupants and injuries to 442 occupants. If you or someone you love was involved in a bus accident in the state of Colorado, it is important to contact a personal injury attorney immediately to avoid missing any critical deadlines. If the bus is a government-owned entity, you have a small window of time to file a lawsuit. In fact, according to Colorado law, C.R.S. 24-10-109, injured victims only have 180 days to file a notification. An experienced and aggressive Colorado bus injury attorney will be able to ensure that you meet all the state’s requirements so you can receive the compensation you deserve after a traumatic bus accident. Two women were killed Saturday afternoon at the Greeley Mall. According to 9News, the woman were killed when a pick-up truck crashed through a store front and struck both women. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident. Witnesses at the scene said it appeared that the driver of the pick-up truck was unconscious when the accident happened. Greeley Police Cpt. Juan Cruz says the driver is cooperating with police, and they do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor. “At this point, it could be anything from medical to mechanical to who knows what else,” Cruz said. According to a 2003 report from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, almost 175,000 pedestrians died in all motor vehicle crashes with over 162,000 pedestrians killed in single vehicle crashes between 1975 and 2001. Most pedestrian fatalities occur at non-intersections (over 75 percent) and roadways without crosswalks (over 40 percent). When a loved one has suddenly and tragically died in a fatal accident, those left behind can sometimes overlook the need to seek justice on the victim’s behalf. Being so fully focused on their grief and pain, calling an attorney is the last thing on their minds. But it is at times like these that a law firm is most needed to protect the families’ rights. If a loved one has been killed in a accident in Denver or anywhere else in Colorado, contact a Denver wrongful death attorney to get the compensation you deserve for your injuries. Fuller Law has handled wrongful death cases for years and can help you by successfully researching and representing your case. Contact John Fuller at 303-597-4500 to learn more about your legal options and to receive your free initial consultation. A man was struck and killed by a light-rail train late Thursday night. According to the Denver Post, the man was apparently laying on the tracks at the Santa Fe flyover when he was struck by the train. Scott Reed, spokesman for RTD said,” The man was just over the crest of the flyover and the northbound train could not stop in time.” The accident happened at about 9:20 p.m. Unfortunately, accidents do occur, and this has been the case with light rail in Denver and throughout the U.S. Although generally safe, obstructions on the tracks, vehicles crossing intersections and mistakes made by the train’s operator can turn an uneventful commute into a nightmare. According to Scribd.com, between 1990 and 2000 there were a total of 4,624 injuries and 113 fatalities from light-rail accidents in the United States. If you have been injured in a light rail accident in Denver or anywhere else in Colorado, contact a Denver light-rail accident attorney to get the compensation you deserve for your injuries.
