A fire broke out today at a family home in Aurora, Colorado, according to the Denver Post. Firefighters responded to the house fire on Emporia Street at 9:50am. Numerous rooms of the house were engulfed in fire and it was noticeable from the street with heavy smoke and visible flames. Three of four residents were at home when the fire broke out and seemingly threatened their lives. All three victims were able to escape but two beloved family pet birds were consumed by the fire. Firefighters were able to completely contain the fire by 10:10am, although the home suffered from fire, smoke and water damage. The house also endured holes in the roof when firefighters needed to ventilate the heavy smoke from the house. The fire’s orientation is still under investigation.
