According to CBS News, a woman driving a Pontiac on I-70 in Aurora was killed after driving into the back end of a semi-truck. Police believe that the truck may have been having mechanical difficulties, and for that reason was driving very slowly in the lane of traffic. The woman came up behind the truck, and wedged her car underneath the back end of the trailer. She died at the scene. Investigators do not believe that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

When a car or small truck is involved in a collision with a large, heavy commercial truck, the incredible difference in momentum can mean a terrible result for anyone inside the passenger vehicle. Of course, in most cases, commercial truckers are experienced, safe drivers but with the inherent difference in size, if a commercial vehicle accident is caused by negligent driving by the commercial driver, the outcome can be tragic.

Have you lost a loved one in a commercial vehicle accident? Contact an experienced Denver trucking accident lawyer immediately.
According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, several thousand people are killed in accidents with large trucks every year. This number is not huge, compared to the number of accidents, but it is certainly far too big for the families who are left to grieve the loss of loved ones. In addition to the fatalities, there are tens of thousands of injuries, and tens of billions of dollars in property damage annually relating to commercial vehicle crashes. One of the difficulties of these accidents is that the commercial trucking companies have dedicated attorneys whose job is to protect the company’s bottom line. In the case of a traffic accident, this often means denying responsibility and paying out as little as possible in insurance claims.
