RTD Bus Crash Kills One Injures 15 – Denver RTD Injury Attorney
The Denver Post
is reporting that at least one person has died after a Denver RTD bus
ran a red light and collided with a car and a truck. The accident happened around Saturday afternoon at the intersection of 8th
Avenue and Lincoln. At least 15 other people, including some bus passengers with injuries were transported to local hospitals. Witnesses reported seeing the bus run through a red light, t-bone a car passing through the intersection and then strike a truck which was following the first car. The truck was pushed into a utility pole in the parking lot of a nearby 7-11 convenience store, striking so hard the cab was nearly ripped from the bed of the truck.
can result in serious injuries for a number of reasons. Bus seats do not have seatbelts, leaving passengers to protect themselves in the event of a sudden stop. Items such as briefcases, backpacks, and strollers are also not secured on a bus – leaving passenger exposed to injury as these many heavy items fly through the air. There is probably nothing scarier for a commuter than the prospect of their car colliding with a public transit vehicle. A passenger car is no match for the weight and size of a bus.
