A car was destroyed by fire during Denver’s Monday morning commute. 9News.com
reports that it hasn’t been determined what caused the fire and that there were no injuries from the fire. Traffic on southbound I-25 where the car fire occurred, however, was at a near standstill for over an hour.
The National Fire Protection Association
reports that between the years 2003 to 2007, “U.S. Fire departments responded to an average of 287,000 vehicle fires per year. These fires caused an estimated 480 civilian deaths and $1.3 billion in direct property damage.” Nearly 75% of these automobile fires were the direct result of mechanical or electrical failures.
